The Institute of Business Ethics (IBE) welcomes the Financial Reporting Council’s new report: Creating Positive Culture: Opportunities and Challenges as an important contribution to thinking on the importance of corporate culture.

Dr Ian Peters, Director of the IBE said:

“Most business leaders now recognise the critical importance of developing an ethical culture throughout their organisations if they are to be successful, but getting there can be challenging.

“A positive, ethical culture must be aligned with an organisation's purpose, values and strategy, but it also requires practical measures, communication, training and most importantly a willingness to listen to all stakeholders. The IBE is dedicated to supporting companies in their efforts to achieve positive ethical cultures and we welcome the FRC’s important contribution.”

About the report:

Creating positive culture – opportunities and challenges builds on the work the FRC have done to promote corporate culture as an essential element of good governance. It follows on from the report Corporate Culture and the Role of Boards in 2016the revised UK Corporate Governance Code and the Guidance on Board Effectiveness.
