Businesses do not operate in isolation and it is very important that they are able to engage effectively with all stakeholders to address the challenges that they face, especially from an ethical standpoint. But what processes should be put in place to ensure that this is done effectively and that ethical dilemmas are resolved by taking into account the views of all those that are affected?

In this webinar we were joined by Samuel Rowe (Legal & Policy Associate at Yoti) who, in conversation with Guen Dondé (IBE Head of Research), discussed Yoti’s approach and took us through how they tackled a particularly difficult ethical dilemma.

Yoti has developed a machine learning algorithm, which is used for anonymous age estimation.  Age estimation performs facial analysis on still or moving images, providing an estimated age and age range. The design, development and deployment of the age estimation tool has raised ethical issues at each turn.  Sam discussed some of the major considerations that have arisen and how Yoti has faced them.
