The IBE Speak Up Toolkit

The IBE Speak Up Toolkit

The IBE Speak Up Toolkit has been developed using personal experience combined with the IBE's understanding of what constitutes good practice from conversations with our supporters. It helps you to prepare for raising a concern, and covers the whole speak up journey - from noticing a problem and having a conversation through to what to expect if you call a Speak Up helpline or if your concern is investigated.

The IBE Speak Up Toolkit is available for your use at the bottom of this page as well as being available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Week 1 (w/c 01 July): I have a concern

Week 3 (w/c 15 July): Making a report

This week we’ll be working on demystifying the Speak Up process. We’ll explore what happens when someone contacts a Speak Up facility and what to expect. We’ll also look at the emotional aspects of making a report.

Week 4 (w/c 22 July): An investigation is under way

This week we’ll be taking a deeper look at the investigation process. We’ll be exploring what confidentiality and anonymity mean and common worries employees may have during an investigation.

Week 5 (w/c 29 July): After I have spoken up

In the final week of the Summer of Speak Up, we’ll be asking what happens once the investigation is over. We’ll be talking about the experiences of those who have spoken up, and discussing how to effectively protect and monitor against retaliation.
IBE’s Summer of Speak Up will culminate on Whistleblower Appreciation Day on 30 July
