After four years leading the Institute of Business Ethics, Dr Ian Peters has announced he will step down as Director at the end of August 2024.

As the third Director of the IBE, Ian has led the institute through an unprecedented period of pandemic and economic turmoil. During that time, he has advised major companies, organisations and professional bodies on the development of ethical culture, re-energised IBE’s supporter engagement, revitalised our advisory services and reinvigorated our purpose ‘to champion the highest standards of ethical behaviour in business’. With a career that has spanned business policy, government relations and corporate communications as well as ethics and governance, Ian plans to offer his expertise through advisory and non-executive roles.

Commenting on his time with the IBE, Ian said: “After four very enjoyable years leading the IBE and supporting organisations in their quest to develop ethical cultures, I have decided it’s time to move on to new challenges – and to engage in my passion for travel. I am grateful for the enormous support I have received from colleagues, trustees and our International Advisory Council, but most of all from our business supporters. I will continue to lead the IBE until the end of summer and look forward to working with my successor as IBE embarks on the next phase in its important work.”

Chair Professor David Grayson CBE said: “Ian has led the IBE with dedication and determination through the difficult COVID period and beyond. He has refreshed our offer to supporters, expanded our advisory services and championed new projects. It will be an exciting opportunity to build on Ian’s legacy.”
