What does culture mean to you? The IBE wraps up Ethics Month by exploring culture.

Whenever groups of people come together, they form a culture. Culture is the collection of values, beliefs and behaviours by which we operate within a group – whether that be a team, a business, or a corporation, a family, a religion, a country. Culture develops from the stories we tell each other. Stories define who we are, what we do, and why and how we do it.

Culture is ‘the way we do things around here’. So for example, a company may have as a business value: excellence. But how is excellence defined in that organisation? How is it achieved? Is it with integrity, or is it at the expense (for example) of child labour or poor working conditions?

IBE’s Director, Philippa Foster Back CBE, finishes off Ethics Month by talking about culture and how vital an ethical culture is.
