The 2021 Edelman Trust Barometer tracks public trust in business, government, the media and NGOs. The startling finding from Edelman’s research is that business is now the only institution that is viewed as both ethical and competent. Trust in government and the media has fallen away during the pandemic, with worrying implications for the vaccination programme and the return to the workplace.

With trust in traditional sources of information sitting at all-time lows, internal communications from your employer are now seen as the most believable. Business is increasingly expected to fill the void left by government and to take the lead on societal issues.
