Trends and Innovations in E&C Training
What is the outlook for Ethics training in 2021? Striking the balance between the necessary levels of educating and informing staff and engaging them in meaningful dialogue about ethics can be a challenge. Training is a key tool for E&C practitioners, but is the training as effective as you’d like it to be?
As part of the IBE’s overarching theme for 2021 of ‘innovating business ethics’ this Business Ethics Network (BEN) meeting will begin the conversation about trends and innovations in ethics training with two examples from companies featured in our forthcoming Good Practice Guide – Trends and Innovations in Effective Ethics Training. Speakers from Rolls-Royce and Capgemini will share their experiences of building dialogue with colleagues on ethical issues and dilemmas through monthly dilemmas, case studies and tools.
Participants in the meeting will also be encouraged to share their own experiences and good practices in an open discussion held under the Chatham House Rule.

Engagement, Training and Programme Manager, Ethics & Compliance Team,Rolls-Royce plc
Steve Kerry is the Engagement, Training & Programme Manager within the Ethics and Compliance Team at Rolls-Royce plc. He has been with Rolls-Royce for 15 years and been in the Ethics and Compliance team for 6 years, prior to this he held a number of positions within the Human Resources function. One of his current main responsibilities is around internal and external engagement, he communicates and engages with a range of internal stakeholders within Rolls-Royce to ensure the messaging around Ethics and Compliance is present and ongoing in all relevant programmes across the organisation.
He’s also responsible for external engagement, a regular attendee at many external events. Another area of responsibility is designing, developing and deploying training to support the programme to all employees. VP - Group Ethics Officer ,Capgemini
As Group Ethics Officer, building on Capgemini’s commitment to its seven core Values, Anne-Violaine is responsible for developing an ethical culture across a company of over 265,000 employees in nearly 50 countries. Capgemini’s Ethics program includes ethics helpline, conflict of interest management, risk assessment, policies, communications campaigns and trainings. Anne-Violaine supervises Capgemini’s worldwide network of Ethics and Compliance Officers. She directed the global launch of SpeakUp – Capgemini’s ethics helpline, the revamping of the ethics training portfolio and the launch of a conflict of interest management solution, and developed a code of ethics for Artificial Intelligence. Capgemini is among the World Most Ethical Companies® as recognized by the Ethisphere Institute in 2020.
Before taking on the role of Group Ethics Officer mid-2018, Anne-Violaine was a member of Capgemini’s Group Corporate Social Responsibility Board, responsible for the creation of Capgemini’s Integrated Report. She introduced integrated reporting in line with the International Integrated Reporting Framework, publishing Capgemini’s first three Integrated Reports.
Since she joined Capgemini in 1995, Anne-Violaine has held various executive positions in the finance, corporate and operational functions.
Network Chair & Secretary
Senior Engagement Officer,Institute of Business Ethics
As Senior Engagement Officer, Linn acts as a single point of contact for internal project matters and collaborates with the wider team on the planning and delivery of engagement activities. She is also secretary to the IBE’s Business Ethics Network (BEN) and the IBE's Professional bodies' Business Ethics Network (ProfBEN).
Linn joined the IBE in August 2018 as Researcher. In this role, she assisted the Research Hub with the writing up of publications, blogs, newsletters as well as other written output specific to the IBE. Her other responsibilities included conducting advisory work on a range of business ethics topics, particularly those related to organisations’ codes of ethics.
Before joining the IBE, Linn completed her master's degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen. She also holds a master's degree in Politics and Government in the European Union from the London School of Economics & Political Science and a bachelor's degree in International Politics from King's College London. She has several years’ experience working as a freelance researcher and translator.

Head of Engagement,Institute of Business Ethics
As Head of Engagement, Dan leads on, manages and coordinates the IBE’s relationships with supporter organisations and key contacts to promote mutual benefit and aid efforts to embed ethical values and ethical cultures across organisations.
This is Dan’s fourth role within the IBE having previously held research, project management and products and services roles.
In this role, Dan acts as Secretary to several of the IBE’s practitioner working groups.
Dan is also a trained project manager and trainer, and represents the IBE with various public speaking engagements, facilitated training sessions and webinars.
Prior to re-joining the IBE on a full-time basis, Dan was seconded to BAE Systems for 6 months where he acted as the Business Conduct Manager. In this role, Dan led the activities for the update of the global Code of Conduct, and authored guidance on the role for an international network of ethics ambassadors.
Before this, Dan was employed in the CR team at Pentland Brands, responsible for data management and risk mapping Human Rights and Modern Slavery in the supply chain.
Dan holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Social Responsibility from the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at the University of Nottingham, and won Best Essay in the under-25 category of the ICAS Sustainability Essay Competition when he was a student.

What are BEN meetings?
Our network meetings, which happen regularly throughout the year, are the pillars around which the community is built. These invitation-only events are usually focused on a specific topic and are led by a member or members of the network who candidly share their experience and pose probing questions for group discussion.
All network meetings are hosted and facilitated under the Chatham House Rule by the IBE.
Who are BEN meetings for?
These meetings are both practitioner-led and practitioner-focused, with invitations only extended to those responsible for the ethics and compliance programme in their organisation (which must have more than 250 employees). Invitees are, however, free to recommend alternates / subject-matter experts from their organisation to attend either with them, or in their place. Registrations are limited to 2 participants per organisation per meeting.

Network meetings are a unique opportunity to join the conversation to discuss the challenges, issues and successes of embedding ethical values within your organisation, with your peers.
