Course 3: How To Know Your Ethics Programme is Working
Course 3 looks at the monitoring, assurance and reporting of ethical performance, and what to do when an ethics programme fails to work. |
|
How can organisations be sure that they are living up to their ethical commitments and standards?
- Who needs to know or be assured?
- What does a successful programme look like?
- How should an ethical lapse be handled?
This course helps participants consider:
- Possible criteria and indicators for assessing ethical performance and the efficacy of an ethics programme
- The mechanisms for gathering and monitoring data on ethical performance
- Useful external tools and standards
- How a board can assure itself that its ethics programme is working
- Good practice for investigating and addressing ethical lapses
The programme is designed for:
- Board members charged with the oversight of an ethics programme or assurance exercise.
- Senior managers or executives looking to understand how ethical performance can be demonstrated to internal and external stakeholders
- Ethics practitioners charged with monitoring ethical performance
- Other professionals, such as Internal Audit, looking to better understand non-financial performance and reporting
The course builds on IBE's Course 2 where participants gain an understanding of what makes an effective ethics programme, as well as Course I which explores the drivers and aims of an ethics programme. To benefit from Course 3, we would advise that participants have an understanding of the above - gained either from attending those courses or through professional experience.
