Boatright, J. R. 2003. Ethics and the Conduct of Business (4th edn.). Upper Saddle River: Prentice Hall: U.S. focus, philosphic orientation, fairly extensive use of cases.

Bowie N.E. with Werhane P.H. 2005. Management Ethics. Oxford: Blackwell: US focus, philosophic orientation. A very general outline which, as the title reveals, looks at issues from a management perspective. (Werhane's contribution is a chapter on her concept of 'moral imagination'.)

Cannon, T. 1994. Corporate Responsibility. London: Pitman: U.K. focus, social science orientation and to some extent more 'business and society' than business ethics.

Chryssides G. D. and Kaler J. 1996. Essentials of Business Ethics. London: McGraw-Hill: U.K. focus, philosophic orientation. Distinctive features are analysis of concept of responsibility and schema for analysing approaches to equal opportunities.

Crane A. And Matten D. 2004. Business Ethics: A European Perspective.Oxford: OUP. Comprehensive coverage with (as sub-title indicates) a 'European perspective' alongside (as a gloss on the sub-title indicates) a 'corporate citizenship and sustainability' approach linked to issues of 'globalization'. It is an approach that very much views business ethics from a managerial standpoint and so a notable feature is the prominence given to the sort of category 2 issues discussed under the heading of accountability and strategy in this website but spoken of as 'managing business ethics' in this book. De George R.T. 1999. Business Ethics (5th edn.). Upper Saddle River: Prentice Hall: US focus, philosophic orientation. A broad coverage of mostly traditional issues (though it includes a chapter on ethics and information technology) written by one of the pioneers of business ethics as an academic subject.

Desjardens J. 2003. An Introduction to Business Ethics. New York: McGraw-Hill: US focus, philosophic orientation. A clear, concise outline of the main issues.

Fisher C. and Lovell A. 2006 (2nd edn). Business Ethics and Values. London: Pearson Education: U.K. focus, social science orientated but provides broad coverage of ethical theory. Predominant emphasis on activities and decision making with extensive use of inventories and case studies, so restricted coverage of topics in terms of detailed exposition, but extensive use of figures and diagrams as explanatory devices. The much enlarged second edition has a thematic focus reflecting its subtitle of 'Individual, Corporate and International Perspectives'. Kitson, A. and Campbell, R. 1996. The Ethical Organisation. Basingstoke: Macmillan. UK focus, unusual format with first half a general introduction to business ethics making extensive use of cases, while second half consists of contributions by individual authors concerned with different functional areas of business - including purchasing and operations management, areas not generally dealt with in business ethics.

Mellahi K. and Wood G. 2003. The Ethical Business. Basingstoke: Macmillan: UK/international focus, social science orientation. A concise introduction that tends towards a literature survey (hence, extensively referenced) with a very broad first part outline followed by a second part examination of ethics in relation to specific areas of business activity.
Shaw W. H. 1999. Business Ethics. Belmont: Wadworth: U.S. focus, philosophic orientation, essentially a replication of the introductory portions of the seventh edition of the Shaw and Barry anthology listed above, including a useful discussion of social responsibility.

Sorrell T. and Hendry J. 1994. Business Ethics. Oxford: Butterworth-Heineman: U.K. focus but attention to European issues, mostly philosophic but a partly social science orientation (of a 'business and society' sort). Noticeable feature is division into 'narrow' business ethics concerned with those financially connected to a 'broad' sort concerned with a wider set of responsibilities.

Velasquez, M. G. 2002 (5th edn.). Business Ethics. Upper Saddle River : Prentice-Hall: U.S. focus, philosophic orientation but extensive use of statistical data as well as concepts drawn from management studies, economics, and environmental science. Notably detailed referencing of sources.
